Cylab's customizable data recognition solution supports a number of applications, including searching, matching records, and preventing data duplication

Search

Our search software can be used against any data model, relational database vendor, and any data type. It brings with it the ability to perform inexact matches against your database, which means it can retrieve all sorts of records that your searches with standard SQL logic just can’t find. It can be set up for any collection of fields, and can successfully perform searches on any subset of those fields. Results are provided sorted by closeness of fit to the search criteria provided. It is easy to set up and easy to use. It’s also available as an API, where you can enhance your own software to perform faster, more effective searches.

Matching

Datasets are linked to each other all of the time, which means that there is the risk of information loss whenever the operation is attempted. Only exact matches can be used to link records in two or more datasets together.  Where errors occur, matches will not be made, and linking processes will be incomplete and/or incorrect.  This problem can assume dramatic proportions when the datasets arise from completely independent sources where data entry personnel and procedures may be completely different.  These issues impact the entire IT community in one form or another including developers, users, operations managers and administrators.  And these impacts have financial costs, schedule costs, productivity costs, and performance costs.

Our solution makes matching a much more robust process, utilizing data recognition to cleanse data, link databases, and support Master Data Management (MDM) efforts.

Duplication Prevention

In its API form, our software can be added to procedures where record creation events are occurring. By using our software in this way, users can be alerted to potential record duplication events before they are saved to the database. Users would have an opportunity to abort the update or create event before committing to saving the record. In this way data entry personnel can avoid entering duplicated records to the database, a very common problem.
